At Duck Dog Trainer, we believe that the training grounds you have to train a hunting dog on is just as important as the methods with which you train. Our training facility, previously known as Fetch ‘Em Up Kennels, is located on a large, beautiful piece of property that includes two large reservoirs, a marsh pond, and a salt marsh. This property allows us to train a dog how to:
- hunt from a boat,
- how to hunt from a blind and
- how to search cover for game.
The thick salt grass is often where crippled ducks hide never to be found. By having this type of grass to train in, we are able to teach our dogs to sniff out those hard to find birds. This is where we teach the “hunt it up” command. However, as nice as this property is, we believe that no single property is sufficient to provide all of the scenarios a hunting dog may face in his lifetime. This is why we will also transport our dogs to other locations where we have training access to thousands of additional acres. Flooded timber, sloughs, ponds, flooded fields, and dove fields are readily available for us to train on to ensure your dog has no surprises on the day of his first big hunt. We are able to set up goose spreads, deep water diver spreads, and a typical marsh spread with a “mojo” that dogs need to be introduced to. Your dogs will ride in style aboard our custom built dog truck. This ensures their comfort as well as their safety. If this type of dog training sounds like something your dog could benefit from, then please feel free to schedule an appointment to check us out today!
